Always say Hello. Even if you're not a talker, a smile or a wave goes a long way.

Be responsible for your children and your pets. Make sure that your kids and your pets stay off of the neighbor's property unless they're invited. Clean up behind them if necessary.

Maintain your property. Your neighbors will appreciate the fact that you keep your property clean and organized. Gather trash and yard waste, and place receptacles out at the appropriate times.

Respect your neighbor's property and privacy. Even if it bothers you that the newspapers are piling up at the end of the driveway, ASK the neighbor if you could gather and dispose of them. Never assume it's okay to enter their property. And if he/she doesn't speak, it's okay don't push the issue. Everyone has rough days, so be patient with them.

Reach out and offer to help. Lend a hand when you have the time if you see the neighbor is working on a big project, or has a lot of yard work to get done. Let them know that you're happy to pick up the mail for them when they're headed out for vacation. Have the kids offer to help bring the groceries inside! Who wouldn't love that?

Keep an eye out. Be aware of your surroundings. Keep an eye on the neighbors packages. Be wary of unfamiliar vehicles or faces in your neighborhood. And most importantly, make your neighbors aware of any suspicious activity.

Be a responsible and considerate driver. Follow the speed limits. Watch for children playing, and pets that may break loose from their owners. Park responsibly and appropriately, not blocking driveways and allowing room for the mailman to place mail in the mailboxes.

Socialize/invite/plan community events. Organize a community garage sale and invite all of the neighbors to participate. Plan an outdoor barbecue and invite neighbors and their families to attend. It's always a great idea to familiarize yourself with the faces of the people in your community!

Share/Borrow/Return Always be willing to lend a tool or a cup of sugar to your neighbor. Even the smallest gesture makes a neighbor feel as if their is always a friend close by. On the same token, don't be afraid to ask a neighbor for something you may need at the last minute. More importantly, always remember to take care of the neighbor's property and return it in a timely fashion.

Communicate face to face. If any problems arise that warrant a discussion, it's so important to talk calmly to the neighbor so there is no misunderstanding about what the issue is at hand. Small problems can spiral into huge disasters when they aren't addressed in a timely manner, so leaving notes that may never be found or could be misinterpreted is a bad idea. Good direct communication will help your neighbor become your friend!

I cannot thank them enough. We were in town for an event when the alternator went out. It was by pure chance that we found Good Neighbor Automotive. Even though they had a full day of appointments, without even skipping a beat Jared said he would take care of us! They fixed the car faster than we could have imagined and we were able to hit the road for our 7 hr trip home! Thank you so much!!
